Life in the Shoe

Remember the old woman who lived in a shoe? I don't judge her nearly as harshly as I used to, now that I have a husband and six children. In our 100-year-old farmhouse, we have broth, bread, and lots of Smucker personalities, and this blog is about our lives.

The Wall, At Last

A long time ago I posted about the bare wall in the living room and asked you for ideas for what to put on it.

You all gave me lots of ideas, which I appreciated very much.

After months of dithering and indecision, and of forgetting about it because I had a lot of other things on my mind, it finally got done.

I ought to let you know how it turned out, right?

Like this:

The picture is one that Ruth from Swartzendruber Photography took of our family before we all scattered to the winds, printed on canvas, from CafePress.

The "Smucker" plaque is from my sister-in-law Bonnie.  I think I got the mirror on the right from Bonnie's garage sale, a long time ago.

The scrolly thing down below is pretty wall-wordy, so as you can see, even I succumbed.

The S was 25 cents at the Etcetera shop in Lebanon.  Jenny painted it for me.

Quote of the Day:

Emily: I really like the wall display.  And what I really like is the picture frame with the bird in it.  It’s so…
Me: Pinterest?
Emily: Yes. But in a good way.

Oh Dorcas, it looks super cute! It's so funny because I promise about a week ago I actually thought about this wall of yours and wondered what it's final outcome was. I was going to sit down and check to see if I had missed an update photo/post regarding it, but I too got sidetracked with other stuff and forgot all about it! Thanks for sharing the final project. I love how each piece has a small story and it was all very inexpensive....It turned out TERRIFIC!! Can't wait to see your next project! :)

Well, I'm glad you succumbed. :) I think it all looks lovely. But yes, I'm with Emily-- the little bird perched on the frame is my favorite part of the whole ensemble!

Your wall looks lovely. What a warm way to great your guests as they enter your home. I especially like the Smucker banner above your beautiful family picture.
